OUR STORY
Why Harbor House Exists
Harbor House exists because no one should have to choose between safety and survival. For survivors of domestic violence, leaving an abusive relationship can be overwhelming, frightening, and dangerous—often with limited resources or support.
Harbor House was created to be a safe harbor: a place of refuge where survivors can find protection, understanding, and hope for the future.
More Than Shelter
We provide more than a place to stay. Harbor House offers advocacy, emotional support, and guidance to help survivors regain stability, rebuild confidence, and move forward on their own terms.
Every survivor’s journey is unique. We honor each individual’s choices and experiences with compassion, respect, and dignity.
Our History
Harbor House began responding to the growing need for domestic violence services in our community in 1985. What started as a grassroots effort has grown into a trusted and vital resource for women and children seeking safety and support.
For decades, Harbor House has remained committed to serving survivors with confidentiality, integrity, and care. Through the dedication of staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners, we continue to provide life-changing services to those impacted by domestic violence.
Looking Forward
Our story continues every day—each time a survivor finds safety, each time a child sleeps without fear, and each time someone chooses hope over harm.
Harbor House remains committed to standing with survivors, strengthening our community, and working toward a future free from domestic violence.
You Are Not Alone
